What the Model Watches
The model is trained on the visible steps of a safe unload, not on the chemistry. On a watched bay it can flag:
- Grounding and bonding. Whether the bonding cable is connected before flow starts.
- Spill containment. Whether a capture basin or barrier is in place under the connection.
- No-smoking zone. A lit cigarette or open flame in the danger area becomes an immediate alert; fire and smoke detection on the same cameras backs this up.
- PPE gaps. Missing hi-vis or helmet where the site rule requires them.
- Personnel in the danger zone. Someone standing between the vehicle and the riser during transfer – the same trigger logic as intrusion detection, set to the bay.
Detection, Not a Compliance Guarantee
The model detects and alerts events; it does not certify that a procedure was followed or that a site is compliant. The operator still owns the procedure, the sign-off and the training. What the camera adds is a contemporaneous record and a live nudge when a step is skipped – useful for coaching and for the after-action review, not a substitute for the permit-to-work. Pair it with vehicle detection to confirm the tanker is positioned and stationary before flow.
On the Cameras You Already Have
The bay is almost certainly already covered by CCTV. Does this certify that unloading was compliant?
No. The model detects and alerts unsafe steps; it does not sign off a procedure. Your permit-to-work and operator sign-off remain the compliance record. The camera gives you a live nudge and an after-action view.
Will it watch the steps we care about?
The common watched steps are grounding and bonding, spill containment, no-smoking, PPE and personnel in the danger zone. If your site has a specific step, send the footage and we tune the rule to it during commissioning.
Do we need new cameras on the bay?
Usually not. The bay is normally already covered by CCTV, and an edge AI box runs the rules on those streams. A clear view of the connection point is what matters, not the camera brand.
Is this a replacement for fixed fire systems?
