How the Matching Works
The rule builds on how license plate recognition works: the stream first runs object detection to find vehicles, then localises and reads the plate region, normalising common reading variations before the match step. All of this runs on the edge appliance itself, so the check survives network outages and no video has to leave the site.
Matching is deliberately tolerant. Readings taken from the same plate across several frames are merged, so one dusty frame does not decide an alert. You also control the direction of the match: alert on any blacklist hit, or require a second confirmation read before the barrier response triggers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the watchlist be updated remotely?
Yes. Lists are edited centrally and pushed to the appliance, so a plate added by the security office takes effect without a site visit. You can also schedule entries – a contractor vehicle can be blacklisted only outside its approved working window.
Do we need new ANPR cameras?
Often no. The rule runs on existing ONVIF and RTSP streams, and many fixed entrance cameras already read plates reliably at barrier speeds. We test your actual footage during evaluation and tell you honestly which lanes need a dedicated plate camera.
What happens when a blacklisted plate is matched?
